My companion had this and when I took the steel armor off her and she reverted to her own leather armor the effect went away. The horse also was transparent. 4gb patch on the exe fixed this - but I also reduced textures.

If you believe that some suspicious “patches” found on vague third-party websites can fix issues with your printer, you are wrong. Be careful, because you can end up. We would like to show you a description here but the site won’t allow us. 1) Download and save this (0x97) repair utility. 2) Setup software and click on Scan button. 3) Click the Repair Errors button in the software when the scan is completed. 4) Restart the computer system. Here is a link to another 0x97 fix utility you can try in case the preceeding program does not work. 0x97 fix patch download.
Steel Fury - Kharkov 1942 (SF) was created back in 2008 by Graviteam. It’s a WWII tank sim which is pretty much like GT:OS apart from you drive around the tanks instead of ordering them about and its great! Believe it or not but this game is still being worked on by community modders, who have released a tonne of extra content, far far more than the original game provided. There are a few mods and tweaks you can make to the game and it took me a while to get everything so I’m making this step by step install and modding guide so you don’t make the same mistakes I did.
Download the game, you can get it here:
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-SFURY/steel-fury-kharkov-1942 It’s not advertised as being on sale on the Graviteam website as due to some distribution company going belly up they no longer earn any money from the sale
Download the STA mods.
The best place to go is to head over to the STA forums, specifically the STA mod thread: http://stasf2008.ephpbb.com/t6-steel-tank-add-on-steel-fury
There’s a fairly good guide on the thread but it’s not the best formatting. Here’s what I did. Download the following:
Steel Sound Mod 2.2 (SSM)
STA 1.0 (main STA mod)
GMP1 (New mission pack)
GMP2 (New mission pack)
GMP3 (New mission pack)
Current incremental update (Currently SepUpd_2015)
The above links are from 4shared, it’s possible to run out of bandwidth if you download everything so go hear for any missing parts:

Download and Install JSGME
This is the mod manager which will manage all the mods for SF. JSGME: http://www.gamefront.com/files/21681483
Extract the files to the root directory of Steel Fury. You will now have the JSGME .exe and a few other files in the game folder, as well as a MODS folder.
Run JSGME.exe it will ask you for a mod folder name, leave the default MODS The program will then open showing Available and Installed mods, currently it will be empty as we haven’t added any mods yet.
Install all the download mods This is really simple, just unzip/extract all the download mods and copy the folders into the MODS folder in the SF game folder.
Activate mods using JSGME Open up JSGME again by running the JSGME.exe in the SF folder. Now you should see all the mods you’ve just copied in the “Available Mods” Column. Now we need to activate them, however the order is important you need to activate them in the following sequence:
i) SSM
ii) STA 1.0
iii) SepUpd_2015 (or current available updated)
iv) GMP_1
v) GMP_2
vi) GMP_3
Once done you can close JSGMEand run the SF game normally, you’ll know that it worked as you’ll have a new splash screen and the menu has been updated.
Widescreen 16x9 fix
This mod fixes the game for widescreen 16:9 resolutions.
Download here: http://www.4shared.com/rar/58MW79whba/v03_aspect_rate_16_9.html
This mod just copies straight into the SF folder and doesn’t use JSGME. When you extract and copy to the SF folder it should ask you to overwrite some files. Click yes.
This will get you all the mods and missions installed, but there still more you can add!
Download/Install weather mods
A number of weather and terrain mods have been added which completely replace the ground and vehicle textures depending on the scene selected.
Download here: http://www.mediafire.com/folder/tawqydkci66dd/sta#0mol4fsmmlffy
Current seasons/climates available:
Africa, Autumn (late), Autumn, Early Spring, Scorching Summer, Winter, Winter no snow
Install the mods like you did with the other JSGME mods. Extract and copy the folders to the MODS folder.
Note: Only 1 climate mod can be active at a time, so you need to swap them in and out using JSGME deepening on which one you want to use.
Note2: Climate mods need to be installed last. So you order would look like this in JSGME –
i) SSM
ii) STA 1.0
iii) SepUpd_2015 (or current available updated)
iv) GMP_1
v) GMP_2
vi) GMP_3
vii) Winter
Troubleshooting
The STA forum has a brilliant FAQ which fixed all of my issues
Issues I ran into:
16x9 fix – Had to fix manually
4GB patch (allows SF to use more than 2GB memory
In the window of the game settings I see that my videocard has less than 128 Mb RAM.
The textures in the game are very blurred. How to fix it?
Each time when I start the game I see the box 'Select programs'.
All of these are answered and explained in the FAQ.
Steel Armor 4gb Patch Downloads
That’s it all done. There are now hundreds of missions to play and loads of new vehicles to try. Also STA2.0 is due to be released soon with even more content!
The small but active community are still adding units, maps and missions please support them if you can.
